" Watchtower doctrine has been that until 1935, all "true Christians" were part of the heavenly class, which means that over a period of 1902 years only 144,000 people can be considered to have worshipped God acceptably."..."It has been calculated that by the end of the second century 60,000copies of the major part of the Christian Greek Scriptures could have been in circulation, even if only one in every fifty of those professing Christianity possessed a copy." Watchtower 1963 April 15 p.249 "Diocletian assumed the crown A.D. 284. At first he seemed friendly to the Christians, but in the year 303 he gave in topersuasion and opened the tenth persecution, probably the most ferocious of all. Suffocation by smoke, forcible drinking of melted lead, mass drownings and burnings, breaking on the rack of men and women alike ran the empire with blood. In a single month 17,000 were slain. In the province of Egypt alone, 144,000 such professed Christians died by violence in the course of this persecution, in addition to another 700,000 who died as a result of fatigues encountered in banishment or under enforced public works." Watchtower 1951 September 1 p.518 These men, women and children offered their lives for God and it is illogical to claim these early Christian martyrs were not worthy to be counted as true Christians and hence denied the heavenly calling. They are shown great disrespect by being branded as unworthy " http://www.jwfacts.com/watchtower/144000.php

by AllTimeJeff inmy picture is in the january 1, 2006 watchtower.. why am i telling you this?

any jw who has been one for a while, or a born in, knows the regard that pioneers, elders, bethelites and missionaries have.

by mP inhttp://www.watchtower.org/e/jt/article_08.htm#only.
do the witnesses believe that their religion is the only right one?anyone who is serious about his religion should think that it is the right one.
otherwise, why would he or she be involved in it?

Blondie has given pretty much the perfect quote, as always. All I can think to add is that the Wt seem to assume in their answer that (all other) religions think as Jw's do, that they are the one true religion, and that all others are wrong..

LEOLEIA-- That comprehensive post of yours has absolutely blown me away.. I'm sat here slapping myself for ever being so blind as to not see the Flood myth for what it is.. How I didn't think of bee/wasp colonies needing more than two to survive, let alone the issue of genetic diversity, I really don't know. Thank goodness for Jwn and people like you..

" Origins of the Genesis Ark story The story of Noah's Ark in Genesis is considered by modern scholars to be directly dependent upon the Babylonian version, [ 35 ] which it parallels point by point, in the correct order, from beginning to end. The brother who gave our public talk claimed that 50,000 species was all that was needed to represent all the species that we have today, and that there would have been plenty of room to spare for food etc...

Thanks Leoleia. Did you ever believe in the Flood of the Bible as you were taught, or have you always been too well educated to believe it? (Assuming you were a Jw)

How to stump the atheists
by StopTheTears inask an atheist if he or she believes in the existence of aliens?
if they answer, "no," then ask them how do they know that?
the truth is that no atheist can reasonably deny the existence of alien life.
